Before a shipment exists
A clinician should determine eligibility and write a prescription when appropriate. A licensed pharmacy then prepares and dispenses the medication according to the prescription and applicable compounding rules.
What to check on arrival
- Your name and medication match the prescription.
- The package includes storage and use instructions.
- The beyond-use date is visible.
- The vial, cap, and packaging are intact.
- Any cold-chain materials look consistent with pharmacy instructions.
If something looks wrong with the package — temperature, label, integrity — do not use it. Call the pharmacy.
If shipping is delayed
Do not guess whether the medication is still usable. Contact the pharmacy or provider, describe the delay and package condition, and follow their instructions. Temperature excursions can matter for stability.
Supplies and disposal
If injectable supplies are included, confirm they match the pharmacy instructions and dispose of sharps using an appropriate container. Loose sharps should not go into household trash.
